Affordable heating, lowering your carbon footprint
Around 17% of all UK carbon emissions currently come from heating our homes!
The tepeo Zero Emission Boiler (ZEB) is a low carbon alternative to a gas or oil boiler - it heats your home affordably while lowering your carbon footprint and supporting renewable generation.
The ZEB is a plug-n-play zero emission replacement for your existing boiler. It works with your hot water tank to deliver low carbon and low cost heating just like your current boiler.
Using off-peak electricity, the ZEB charges up when electricity is cheaper and greener, heating up a thermal core inside the ZEB. This stores energy until it is needed and releases it when your thermostat calls for heat (either for heating or hot water). You can keep your existing controls, pipework, radiators and cylinder - making the ZEB a very simple installation compared to many other low carbon options.
The ZEB’s intelligent charging algorithm looks at your tariff, the weather, the grid carbon intensity and how much heat your home uses to automatically charge up - keeping running costs & carbon low, while avoiding wasted heat.
The tepeo app is designed to make managing and monitoring your ZEB easy, it also allows you to set it up and leave it to do the work for you. The app helps you create a comfortable home whilst saving energy - good for your wallet and the environment.
Unlike a fossil fuel burning boiler, with a ZEB you don’t need a flue because there are zero emissions.
A typical installation is 1-2 days and will work with your existing radiators and wet underfloor heating system.
The ZEB uses low carbon electricity to charge up, then delivers heat on demand.
The ZEB combines grid carbon intensity, weather forecasts & heat demand to automatically calculate when & how much to charge.
The ZEB works with any tariff, but makes the most of 'off peak' rates to charge up cheaply.
The ZEB works well in smaller homes. Ideal heat demand: 3-12,000 kwhs.
We have put together some answers to the questions we get asked the most by our customers who are thinking about installing the tepeo Zero Emission Boiler. Hopefully these answer all the questions you have but if you have some more please feel free to get in touch with our experts anytime.
How much energy does it store?
40kWh of usable thermal energy.
How long does it take to charge?
Just over 4 hours from empty. It can deliver heating after half an hour (from cold).
What temperature water can it supply?
Any temperature up to 80°C - your current boiler won’t be higher than this so you will notice no difference.
How efficient is it?
The ZEB converts 100% of its electricity consumption into heat which will contribute to the heating of your home. When installed inside the thermal envelope of the home the ZEB is classed as 100% efficient.
What are the dimensions of the ZEB?
98cm (height) x 60cm (width) x 66cm (deep) - but it needs clearance of 7cm above and 5cm either side.
How heavy is it?
375kg
How long will it last?
We have designed the ZEB to last 20+ years.
How often will it need servicing?
No routine servicing required. Our monitoring systems tell us if we need to address anything.
Can ZEB draw electricity at the same time as my EV charger?
Yes, a typical charger will draw 30A, the ZEB 40A, so together 70A - less than the typical 100A household limit.
I have solar PV, can I use the excess to charge the ZEB?
This is currently in BETA trials and will be available from spring 2023.
